A Parent Concern Snapshot is a professional educational opinion. This page sets out plainly what it is, what it is not, and the limits of what it can do.

1. Educational opinion, not diagnosis
A Parent Concern Snapshot is an educational opinion based on the information you provide. It does not diagnose autism, ADHD, dyslexia, or any other condition, and it must not be read as though it does. Only a suitably qualified clinician can make a diagnosis.
2. Not a statutory or clinical assessment
A Snapshot is not an assessment of special educational needs, not an Education, Health and Care needs assessment, not an educational psychologist's report, and not a substitute for any statutory process. It cannot be relied upon in place of a report from a registered professional where one is required.
3. Not medical, psychological, legal or therapeutic advice
Nothing in a Snapshot is medical, psychological, legal or therapeutic advice. If you have concerns about your child's health, development or wellbeing, please speak to your GP or another appropriate registered professional. If your child may be at immediate risk, contact the emergency services.
4. It depends on what you tell me
A Snapshot is written from the information you choose to share, and from any documents you upload. I do not observe your child, test your child, or speak to their school unless you have specifically arranged that separately. Where information is missing or unclear, the Snapshot says so. Its accuracy is therefore bounded by the accuracy and completeness of what I am given.
5. A point in time
A Snapshot describes your child as they appear at the time it is written. Children change, and circumstances change with them. It should not be treated as a permanent description of your child, nor relied upon indefinitely.
6. No guaranteed outcomes
I cannot guarantee how a school, a local authority, a clinician or any other third party will respond to a Snapshot, whether support will be granted, or what decisions others will take. Decisions taken by those third parties are outside my control and outside my responsibility.
7. How to use it well
A Snapshot is most useful as a considered starting point: something to help you understand what you are seeing, to order your thinking, and to hold a clearer conversation with your child's school or with a professional. You are welcome to share it with them.
